So I took another weeks holiday back to Mildura for my mothers birthday and took my Black car that I finally got back from having the two bent rods fixed. I drove for 7 hours on my own with one stop for coffee and one stop for gas. All up about 550 Km, I drove around town all week but when it was time to come home on the Thursday I got 25km into the trip and the car just came to a stop in the middle of what looked like know where. Opened the bonnet only to find the battery was dead as dodo, managed to get a jump start and get back to my parents place. Next day I went to the Ford dealer and got them to put the diagnostic tool into it and found the altenator was buggered. So I asked him what will a new one cost, after I picked myself up of the floor I told him I would look else where ($980 + GST) and $99 an hour to fit it (2hours work). I found an auto elect who still was pricey but a lot cheaper then Ford ($850 fitted). One dam expensive trip in the end but at least I have a altenator which I would hope lasts a lot longer than 142000 km.

It just never ends with this car but maybe I shouldn't complain to much it is 11 years old and had done 145000 Km. Today I took the car to have the right front shocker fixed as I noticed yesterday that it was leaking, I was a bit annoyed at this as the car has only done 33000 km in the past 4 years and 2 of those years it has been in or waiting on some kind of major repair the last one being two bent conrods and 8 bent valves to which I found out was due to some idiot fitting the harmonic balance puller.
The news I got today that most of the front and rear suspension bushes need to be replaced along with a steering rack that has some kn ocking noise in it. Just adds up to more $$$$$$$.

Sounds bad mate. I think you can have good luck and bad luck with cars. I've done about 130,000km in my car since I got it (1996 Mitsubishi Lancer MX Touring 1500cc) total 200,000km now and only had to spend $1,200 on a couple of major things to keep it running over the years. Its been a good car to me. I Hope one day to be able to spend some money on my project car - VG Valiant to get that on the road. I hope you get it all sorted and can enjoy it for years to come

SO do I Jake Fox as I want to take back to the race track this June for the Ford Drag Nationals. Last time I went I cooked the clutch and still got a 12.7 out of it this time I got to replace the steering rack and fix the left front shocker before I get there.
