Ok I need help something is playing havoc with iRacing and I'm all most going to drop a fist into this laptop. While I'm trying to watch a race the "S" bar is more often than not in the red. There has to be something running in the background which I can't find, my thinking it's either the 8.1 apps or the McAfee anti virus software. Any help would be good I'm sick of seeing cars bouncing all over the track. Just for the record it's an i5-4210cpu @1.70GHz @.40GHz with 8 gig of memory and GeForce 830M graphics card.

Can't help you sorry Mark. All my PC's have Win 7. I just Googled what the S Bar was to see if I could help.

I think I have found out what the problem is, there is a windows security update that is downloading but not installing. The silly thing is I can't stop it from downloading as the settings for windows 8.1 don't allow you to stop them. When I go to the Microsoft site to find out why they don't have an answer as to why this is happening. I really don't feel like doing a reinstall as there is to much I'll loose but it looks like the only way to fix it.

I normally do a reboot at least once a year but before I do I spend a good day making sure to transfer everything I want to keep to another drive. Pain in the ass but hassle free PC for a few months it good

Not sure how to help with the problem but c cleaner is fairly handy at keeping windows tidy and running reasonably fast

I think you can change the settings for that. At least I can on my tablet. Go to settings > change PC setting > update and recovery > choose how updates get installed. You can then change the setting to something like: check for updates but let me decide when to download and install...

Still got to work why this security update isn't installing.
