i just cant run in this anymore with a baby here and spending the time to organised vln stuff and race is taking to much away too much of my time and my wife is about to kill me. most of you that have kids will understand this.. i tried to make it work but i dont have the hours in the day to work, raise a baby, run a household and all the rest of things that life throws at us. getting wrecked out of both vln 6H races one from second and one from first is just the last straw. ill decide what im going to do later on but now im just too dropped out to even think about this.. both wade and i have spent at least 20 hours on this and the first race was because of no spotter ( thanks iracing another known issue yet unresolved ) and the second because of a class of car that is totally unsuitable to be in VLN. hopefully i can see a good outcome from this but for now im out . ill have a chat with john about who can take over the series director role in vln. but for the foreseeable future its not going to be me.

I know how you feel Nick, except for the baby part haha, I've had the same feeling a few times with GOT and other leagues. The organisation can be very time consuming, the preparation for races can be very time consuming, the races themselves are very time consuming. And when it leads to bad results it is a lot of time wasted.
In the end it's all about having fun. Family always goes first. I often feel iRacing is getting too much, it's so easy to get sucked into leagues. I often just step back from all the team races and I'll just do 25 min Porsche races by myself whenever I have time. I'm only involved in 1 league and only race as a guest in other leagues and events whenever I feel like. Sometimes there is no spot, no problem, I just do another Porsche race.
So my advice is to step back from all team races for a while, we'll find someone to organize VLN, it's only 4 hour races from now on so a bit less organisation and the guys know how to do everything themselves. They just gotta organize driver line-up and a paint, I'm sure they can do that. So step back, do some normal iRacing races for yourself whenever you feel like racing. And I'm sure you'll be back at some point and then you'll know better not to over commit yourself for a league or a race.
I literally refuse to practice more than 10 hours for a race because if something stupid happens like in your VLN races I will kick myself in the balls for wasting so much time where there is always the possibility that you crash, there is a disconnect, you do a backflip in the pitlane, there are mazda convertible cars on a race track (wtf!), you get a penalty, your teammate wrecks on lap 1 or you f*ck up the registration and end up in a mazda convertible car yourself!

Its not soo much the "waste of time" . More the lack of time. I really love the team aspect that black adder motorsport has within it. And the opportunity to race with such teammates is a large reason I'm still here. It also makes me aware that allot of the problems the platform is having atm is with the team based endurance events. Being able to race today with wade and mads was great. I can only imagine how it must feel IRL when this kind of thing happens. Re. Svg at this year's b12h.

Just chill and get used to your new life style Nic and, when the timing works, use iRacing and BAM to relax and have a bit of fun. We've all been phases where RL takes priority and we feel a bit burnt out racing and you've got better reasons than most . No problem sorting out VLN - I'm sure someone will step up to help organise it, as Tommy said, there's not that much to do now you've got the basic structure sorted.

cool.. thank john this is such a good team to part of when every1 can help me understand its normal.. ill draw up a spreadsheet for the rest of vln races wth the cars that we have atm...
im not so much burnt out.. i just cant justify the time spent to get to the front to be wrecked by a mx5.. even my fuck up yesterday doesnt come close to this.. mads and wade drove so well .. then i sit and think ...man i could have been taking my kid for a walk or something else ( more like changing nappies but ill keep dreaming). i was still doing the dirt races to get credits but even that 2 hours is too much..

Now, I can race at nights when they are sleeping, but first months are almost impossible, only if you have more people to take care of them. Family will always be the priority, have fun raising your baby because they grow fast and you are going to miss it.

Ah the joys of parenting. The funny thing is that you will most likely sign up to do it again! I've got #3 coming in Nov. Sex is a powerful tool of persuasion!

It will always be a shame when a team loses an important and integral member, but family comes first and your little one needs it's daddy. I sure you will be back when more time is available as racers got to race. But for now, just go and enjoy your time with the family before they grow up and get on your nerves as that happens all too quickly.
As for VLN series director, I love the VLN races (well... any race at the ring) and plan to run them all. Obviously I have only been with the team a short time, but would like to be considered to take it on for the remainder of this year.

Hey Nic, going to miss seeing you as a fixture, definitely got to put family needs priority one, I know it is a hard decision when you want so bad to do so much for such a great team, but definitely take care of the ones that matter the most to you. We all support you & look forward to seeing you back when you have less obligations. Take care my friend!

Done - actually you were the 1st person I thought of because I know how committed to the series you are. Just want to confirm what you meant by this (as I don't like to assume things and next VLN is next weekend). Done.... did that mean I am being considered (as per what I wrote).... or did you mean to get the f*** on with it?

Some people will hate it, but for me, I love it when my life welcomes me back to reality. Nothing is overrated or underrated IMO. Just chill out man. iRacing is so slow in development anyways. But that little angel, whoa! let me tell yah... They grow up unlike anything I've seen! And you don't wanna miss any part of that. It's once in a lifetime. No second prize. It's always a win spending time with them.
