Hello Everyone!
It's been a while since I've had anything to say of note. BAM is officially over and done with as a sim team, new teams have started, and people have come and gone. I mentioned turning what was BAM into more of a gaming community than a sim-racing dedicated team. Now that things have settled down a little bit both in my real life and within our community, I'm going to start working on that gaming community.
This process will probably take some time. Instead of being solely focused on competing in as much as possible solely on iRacing, that focus is going to turn more towards the pure enjoyment of gaming on a community level; not particularly competitively or strategically, but whatever is the most fun! A lot of the board's look and function will change as I get rid of what will be unnecessary for the purpose of this new direction but still try and make sure anything that can be put to good use here or elsewhere is kept or moved. So, if you have anything in particular you know you absolutely want to keep please let me know. I have archived a lot and shuffled the board around some so that the iRacing specific stuff is a bit more carefully organized to make room for other gaming discussion.
As far as the amount of work that has to be done, I will be handling whatever I can handle when I have time to handle it. Some new game discussions have already been made, and if you have some to suggest I will make a place for them. If you are interested in being a moderator of a particular gaming discussion (which would help me out a lot, especially right now while I have no internet!) or you are interested in helping me out with this in general, feel free to let me know. I could definitely use help with some of the structure, design, new ideas. What to do about the facebook page, what to call the damn place, what we can add or get rid of, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. Quite of few people in BAM wanted to use Discord and that never happened. I've started a discord channel for the new community, and even though it's typical discord reliable it will probably work out better from a community aspect. I will start gathering all of the resources like TS channel, Discord info, etc... and put them in an easy to locate place.
Once I'm somewhat happy with the way things are going, I will likely re-open registration to the forum. As of now it is closed and no registrations are being accepted, but I am not blocking them either. If there are people who have previously deleted their profiles but would like to come back I will happily accept them. Or if any of you have a close friend you would like to invite before registration is opened up, talk to me about it and I probably won't have a problem with giving them a membership. What I don't have much interest in right now is having random people register for a forum/community that is essentially broken.
I want to remind everybody that this is a slow process and will not be free of mistakes or problems. You'll have to be even more patient with me than before; this time around I'm not going to stress out as much about the forums and running everything. If you have ideas or want something done faster, you'll have to help out or shut the fuck up about it. #sorrynotsorry.
