On my button box, I have... let's see... 24 options on a 12-position rotary dial with Increase/Decrease wired in parallel. 12 options on a 12-position rotory for quick-pit and radio commands. 8 options for radio and spotter settings. 16 options for black box info and other settings. So I guess my button box is 60 buttons lol. I also have 3 toggle switches that I haven't had the time to wire up or code yet. Decided that if I was going to take this button box apart I'd rewire it and put it in a new shell, and possibly upgrade the microcontroller so that I can take one of the 12-pos rotaries out and replace it with a custom H-pattern shifter and sequential slapstick. Knowing me, I'll probably just upgrade the microcontroller, leave the 12-pos rotory in and add the pathways for the shifters. And then mount the shifter as a bridged unit so I can plug the G27 shifter buttons onto something and use a custom shifter attached to MY box. -Travis Sounds cool. A new thread with images and instructions would help maybe?

20 EUR will get me a few tracks Will save it. This is from earlier when I got passed more and didn't have voice chat. I need to replace some of these, other than the pit speed limiter.

Just ordered the parts for mine will post a pic in a month when they arrive and I've finished EDIT: Here it is finished. Made the box out of wood and used some paint I had around home. Bolted it off my desk. Now have a total of 26 buttons 12 on box, 8 on shifter and 6 on wheel. Thanks to Jhon for the thread or I would have never done this. Excuse the dust in second pic. Something I only do once a month in my man-cave if I'm lucky lol

What case would you have to use for a button box? Would wood be good enough?

Mine is fine out of wood just make sure if you do make one out of wood that you use thin wood for the front so you can tighten up the buttons. My front piece was 3mm thick. I made my box A4 size so I had good spacing between the buttons. Didn't take long to make and a lot cheaper than buying a box.

Nicely done Gary,
A slap of carbonstickersheet and it looks the works. Nothing beat a home made buttonbox as you can make and design it to your liking. I was just plain lazy and didn't had the time to do... So bought some buttonboxes.

Since I watched Mitchell deJong's NES stream yesterday for half an hour, I think I could use a buttonbox. Have looked at the DSD boxes already and it really got me hooked up. Are there any noteable buttonboxes that are affordable (non-DIY though) and worth looking at?

After a quick research I stumbled across this one . For less than 70€ an ass full of buttons. Looks interesting. And the DSD P1 looks like it could fit nicely aswell www.derekspearedesigns.com/p1p2.html.

SRH (SimRacingHardware) make some great ones althougha bit pricey but they're nicer than the DSD ones in my opinion.i've experience with both and i like the buttons/switches/dials SRH use more.

I'm quite decided that I'm shooting for one of the DSD button boxes. My problem is to figure out, whether to go for the P1 or P2. Would have gone for the Trackzilla, but that's out of my budget unfortunately ^^ Question is, do I need 5 or 6 2-way-toggles. I'm currently leaning towards the P1, it has 6 2-way-toggles, therefore just 5 buttons and 4 rotary encoders compared to 5/6/5 for the P2. Price is the same for both.

I use the encoders more, looking at it I would go for the P2. That huge button on the P1 is only really useful for engine start.

The only thing I have in mind would be chat channel selection and chat volume. The huge button on the P1 would have been car reset in my mind.
