I am sure we here in Metro Detroit did not get snow like our B.A.M. colleagues on the west side of the state or what Travis was used to up in Marquette.
But... we got about 14" worth of new snow throughout most of the area; 16" worth in a few spots. That's a whole lot of snow for us compared to what we normally get. According the National Weather Service, we typically receive about 13" of snow by this point of the winter (Jan. 6). This year, we have already received 28" of snow; and we have to get through the rest of January, all of February and a good chunk of March yet.
We have quite the cold snap coming now too... falling temperatures throughout today, with windchills dropping to -20F to -25F by mid-afternoon.
Tomorrow morning, actual temp is expected to be -12F with wind chills of -30F to -40F degrees at times (A high of 0F tomorrow). Somehow, me thinks the kiddies will have tomorrow off of school again yet.
Crazy, crazy winter.

You guys should be lucky. Singapore is boiling all year round, if not raining. I want to see some snow, never seen before (or at least I can't remember playing with snow)

I agree with you that Singapore is boiling all year round. I usually make one business trip there per year... going first to Malacca, then to Singapore, and finishing the trip in Batam before heading back to the states. I was there in July this past summer (at least they don't make me come there in April or May ). I think what I find to be most "oppressive" when I am visiting the Malaysian peninsula or the rest of that region, however, is the humidity. It's always 80%+ no matter what or when... and if you have rain in the early part of the day followed by sun... ugh. Way too hot!

Cool you come to Singapore every year? We should really meet up someday. I think the most 'oppressive' period of the year for us in SG is around June and July. Malaysia is quite hellish as well, not too familiar cos I have not been there much recently.

-40F? That's pretty cold lol. Makes me pretty grateful that its almost 50F here near Philly. Plus all the rain were getting its getting rid of all the snow, so we don't have to worry about that either

My company has facilities there in the Kallang Sector. I do not know when I will be coming this year... likely July or August but could be earlier or later depending when my management tells me I have to go. I will let you know when I am getting ready to head that way and maybe we can meet up. I usually spend one or two nights in Singapore before heading to either Batam or Malacca.
