So, summer is upon us yet again here in Sweden and that means one thing for those who like to drive a little faster than what you're supposed to.. Squashed bugs all over your window and front end of the car. Do you have any good advice on what to do, know any good stuff to get rid of it? I was washing, waxing and making sure my car was all clean and shiny yesterday. On my way home the result was ten thousand bugs sucked into the car and because I had to drive to work it was standing out in the sun all day. That crap doesnt come off easily when it gets burnt in:( I was hoping someone had any ideas, advice of how they deal with that part of keeping the car good looking?

I was totally going to reply to this and JUST NOW noticed I didn't.
Down here, we have "lovebugs", supposedly their guts are more or less corrosive to paint and clearcoat and they'll discolor your paint if you leave them on the car for very long. Personally, I haven't seen anything of the sort, and I could really give a shit what my car looks like, but I don't drive a BMW lol.
Unfortunately, you're now in the situation where you're driving a nice car and the only solution to keeping it clean when you wake up is to wash it before you go to bed. So far, I've found that a pressure washer is really the only way to get that stuff off easily... otherwise, good results will usually come with hot soapy water and letting it soak before blasting it again with a sponge and soapy water. It all comes off eventually. Also, on a car that nice, be sure that you're not using the same rag/sponge often, and that you're not taking too long to clean it. IMO, you should really only do about a square foot of the car before you dunk it back in the bucket and clean it out. Everything that you pick up off the surface of the clearcoat is pretty much deposited right onto whatever you scrubbed it off with, and from there it turns into the car-cleaning equivalent of sand-paper. Avoid doing big long streaks down the side of the car or trying to take too much debris off the paint at one time. Same thing goes for power washers; people are always scared they're going to take the clearcoat off with the power washer, but even at a lower pressure it's more important to focus on little areas of the car at a time, or you'll end up scattering a lot of dirt or dust or bug guts across the surface of the paint and scratching it.
Had a friend that absolutely ruined a paint job on his truck using a pressure washer on a low setting trying to spray mud off the truck parallel with the side of the bed. Just sent dirt and mud sliding across the bedside and eventually scratching the clear enough to be able to see it in the sun. Keep'r at a 45 so it all deflects out and down. 90 just punches it back at the car, and level with the surfaces is how you take clearcoat off haha.

There's really no secret to keeping your car bug free. The only thing you need to do is make sure you have a layer of wax on the car. Thats usually enough to make it easy to wipe bugs off. So just wax twice a year or so and you'll be set.
Or if wax isnt enough, you could install a bra (HATE those) Or one of those bug deflectors on the end of the hood (the clear plastic spoiler looking things that move the airflow w/bugs up and over the windshield instead of at the windshield and hood)

Well, I do clean it with a sponge as often as I can, providing it has gotten dirt on it and I do wax it. But I was hoping you guys knew of some car maintenance products that could help keep it cleaner lol.
I know another thing that is good to do to make your car happy. Not get oil showered all over it...
I was out drivinf today, and as I was entering a smaller road that has some nice corners on it and is very empty, I was going to overtake a Saab. The guy driving that car had another thing in mind thou as he completely floored it. I'd given him a bit of a run since I wanted to really go full on oit of the corner I was exiting and pass him quickly so I wouldnt have any other car ahead of me, but as he probably saw what I was doing he decided to be a tool. But as he was going up through the revs, the bigger the oil cloud coming out of his exhaust became. I got a real good laugh out of it as it was pretty funny seeing it, but then I remembered I was the one getting it sprayed all over my car... Dumb ass Saabs with idiot drivers..
