Go as high as you can. The higher the upload speed the better the quality. You can check your upload speed with one of those bandwidt checker sites, I'm sure you know what I mean. And you can use a bit less than your maximum leaving enough for iracing. You don't want lag in the game for sure! You can have a 1080p 60fps stream but with very low bandwidt it wil look like shit. It's a matter of trial and error and making sure the game never lags.

Yeah, my current upload is 2MB/sec (which is obviously not enough), but I'm eyeing a 6MB/sec upload tariff.

If you have 5mb up that should be plenty. Your in Europe so you will have a server close to you. For me I have the upload speed 3.5mb but Twitch servers are to laggy for me from here.... You could prob set your upload stream or Bit rate at around 2 - 2.5 or 2500kb. Good enough for HD maybe even full HD 1080p

So Josh I have a question. Is there a way to stream with OBS onto twitch where you can have it so the TS wont be played thru the stream but you can still hear it? I know we dont want our ts broadcast during streams, but I plan on streaming the endurance and league stuff.

You'll have to do some things with the audio settings in windows. I'm sure you'll be able to use close to the settings I use for the same thing with my stream pc. I'll post what I have done later as it's 2am here and I'm about to go to sleep.

Trying to figure out how to explain this

Here is a link from the obs forums on how to exclude audio sources. I use the stereo mix option with a capture card for stream pc use. If you need help trying to make sense of any of what's on that page let me know what you specifically need help with and I'll do my best to try to explain it. Exclude Audio sources off your stream or recording Right now I have my speakers as my default playback device and all of my iracing sound is playing through speakers. Under recording device I have stereo mix enabled and set as default device and under the listen tab it is set to playback through my headset so what is playing through the speakers(which I have turned down) is playing through my headset. Now what you want to be heard on stream have set to play through your speakers and what you don't want to be heard have play through your headset. What is played through your speakers will be heard on your headset and heard on stream, but what is playing through your headset will not be heard through the speakers and not heard on stream. I hope I explained that well enough.

Just a bit of feedback from myself aswell. Still fairly new to the recording & posting movies. I dont really think i will be streaming. Upload speeds in Belgium are rather limited. atm 0.5MB/s upload on a decent unlimited subscribtion. Even our business line at work is only 1MB/s
But so far I've been using OBS to purely record locally. (720p 60hz - 5000 Bitrate) Quality could still use some improvement, but for the rest everything seems to be ok.
As for video editing I'm still looking for a decent program for an acceptable price. Sofar I've tried the following programs
- Sony Vegas Pro -- Piece of cake to work with, very easy interface and everything is nicely layed out. its almost as simple to use as drag & drop. Came from a recommendation from a friend, he doesn't want to use anything else and i can see why. Only one downside, a 500$ license
- Cyberlink PowerDirector 14: Seems to be very nice, still need to test it with an actual clip to how it is to work with. Also looks like simple drag & dropping. Not too expensive. currently there's a 65% discount on the official website with extra package + 15% extra discount promo code (sub 60âŹ) Its also on steam at 35% discount for some reason ... And a 30 day trial i'm going to test in the following days.
- Lightworks: Free, but less easy to work with than sony vegas. havent looked too deeply into it. but just trying to sync two video files together to match the audio feels like a major chore The timeline was also less intuative as sony vegas was
- Blender: apparently you can also edit video with blender, haventr tried it yet/

Sven Cammaerts: For my Nordschleife Track guide, which is currently uploading, I used the Movie Maker that comes with Windows... Variety of options is enough for me, easy to work with too. And it doesn't cost a dime at all. Have you tried that one already?

www.youtube.com/channel/UC31rxDadpix5CVVYZoNX94wThat's my youtube Channel Anyways... In OBS, I use 1840x1024 resolution. That's in between 1080p and 720p quality. 10000 bit rate, 60hz, x264 CPU preset is in very fast. Everything is edited using Windows Movie Maker. Here's my latest production for the thing we do in BAM open wheel program. Quality is somewhat meh, but the 60fps thing makes up for everything! Sometimes I don't even edit the video(i.e. may latest win in star mazda). I just upload them "as is". Adds some honesty for the viewers...

Because I play on a laptop things are alittle different, but i think I can set it up so that i hear ts and iracing but a stream would only hear iracing with some tinkering Thanks!!

@mattfields My Sources for iRacing Encoding Video Advanced iRacing Browser Apps Overlay CSS With the track map addon I have the resolution set to 640x480 and I just used edit scene to move it to the upper left corner. Let me know if you want any other specific screenshots of any settings. This is all on a stream PC with a i5-4690k and a 750Ti so you may have to dial down the x264 CPU Preset since I don't have a game using any CPU resources I cranked it up a couple notches. I also followed this guide on the iracing forums to make the game run and look better: Guide: iRacing Graphics Options and nVidia SettingsMy PC Specs: Gaming: Case: Coolermaster Storm Trooper MB: MSI Z97 Gaming 5 CPU: Intel i7 4790k RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 GPU: EVGA 780 GTX Superclocked 3GB SSD: 500GB Samsung 850 Evo HD: 1TB WD Black PSU: Corsair RM1000x 1000W Stream: Case: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Arctic White MB: ASRock H97M Anniversary Micro ATX CPU: Intel i5 4690k RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 GPU: EVGA GTX 750ti 2GB SSD: 250GB Samsung 840 Evo HD: 1TB WD Blue PSU: Corsair CX600M 600W Capture Card: Avermedia Live Gamer HD

You got some serious shit going on with your hardware there Josh... All I can do is drool about it. Anyways, since the last update, with iRacing including the D3D software, my OBS stopped recording video. Only sound with black screen or image. I found running iRacing in Windowed mode and remapping OBS setting to record window and instead of game to solve that issue. But using windowed mode in iRacing sucks. My FPS suffers quite a bit doing that. My Q is, did you change any of your settings(mapping) after that update? or did you even experienced what I'm talking about? Free recorders are good, but the one that iRacing included don't come with the option to record middle screen only, so that one is a bummer.

I'm running everything from single PC, but so-far seems to be working pretty well. I've got similar settings to you, but I see some things you're doing that might work better for me. Running game and stream from same box hasn't been working too badly (still pushing 90 FPS in iRacing), but I can still tell on the stream end. I'm also using a ton of add-on features (music, in-stream chat, betbot, track map, etc), which adds to the load.
My Hardware:
Case: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540
MB: Asus Z97 Deluxe 3.1
CPU: i7 4790K 4GHZ
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 2400 16GB
GPU: Asus GTX 970 Strix
SSD: Samsung 1TB 850 Pro Series (M.2 SSD)
HD: Toshiba 3TB 7200RPM
PSU: Corsair AX1200i 1200 Watt Power Supply
(watches @neil drool some more)
I'm running a dual-screen setup, so I've always run iRacing in windowed mode (only way I could get the game to properly display in both screens). My FPS is almost identical windowed vs fullscreen for some reason. With the black screen, I had to uncheck an option that was something like "anti-cheat compatibility hooking" (don't remember exact wording, not at home so can't access my OBS right now) to get the capture to work.
I'm still trying to get the stream to broadcast two audio outputs (speakers - where my game itself and the music plays / headset - where my in-game chat plays). I tried a couple add-ons but they don't seem to work. I think I'm going to have to set up a virtual audio cable of some sort to create a virtual sound source to capture.

@neil I have read to fix the black screen issue turn off iracing's built in recording software. I didn't run into that problem since I use a capture card and it just captures whatever is shown on my middle monitor.
@mattfields Look into using stereo mix for two audio outputs. It's what I use to get my audio to my stream pc, but I use it to also keep certains things from being broadcast on stream and have seen it should work on a single pc setup too.
