It's pure disappointment... I will send that back... Software isn't working properly... (You cannot control Oculus video with the touch controllers), display quality is really really bad and it's uncomfortable... I don't want that on my head the whole time... It's not worth the money and it's not worth the time to get used to it... That's how I felt about the Vive. I just couldn't be comfortable in it, I couldn't see my breaking points, and my face started to melt after 30 mins of wearing it.

Just got my oculus... I'm a little bit disappointed with the image quality, It seems much better on youtube but that could also be to do with me normally wearing glasses. The image quality seems very sensitive to the way you wear it or is it just me?
Anyone got any quick tip for the oculus?

As for graphics, read the VR settings thread on the IR forums...it has a lot of helpful info. I would stick with one car for a bit and try to get your viewing position to be as close to how you are sitting as possible. I wear large framed glasses everytime with my oculus and i have no problems so you might be ok to do the same. Your eyes will adjust to the resolution after a few weeks. The immersion is what you need to focus on if you want to stick with VR. Thats what separates it from screens.

It seems much better on youtube but that could also be to do with me normally wearing glasses. The image quality seems very sensitive to the way you wear it or is it just me? It is quite sensitive yes, I noticed that too. If the Oculus doesn't sit on your head correctly the image gets pretty fast ugly (we are talking about 2mm and less differences in positioning, it is really that marginal). Hold the Rift in your hand and find the best viewing experience, when you've found it than tighten the straps accordingly. Image quality also depends on time of day in-session. Late afternoon looks quite mushy in ingame distances of 150m and above, while afternoon settings seem to produce the best image (I haven't tried morning yet). I got over the graphical "downgrade" compared to triples quite fast. I make me think it's kind of a heat haze where things in distances are going to be washy too, but I'm highly shortsighted so things in distances aren't sharp for me anyway I certainly don't want to miss out on the VR experience anymore. Sold my triples like 3 weeks after VR arrival.

Your welcome. Unfortunately I don't drive that much currently, so I probably missed a lot of things. You know. I'm lazy, never fix a running system

How do you move the relative box etc. to the sides? With the usual iRacing hotkeys. I think moveing HUD was ALT+K.

My right headphone on my Oculus died 2 weeks ago and I'm just outside my 1 year warranty period. Fortunately Oculus approved a replacement but they told me I need to ship my old unit out, wait 2 weeks, and then have then send me a new one. I just emailed them saying that's a little ridiculous considering the time we live in...they can easily just keep my credit card info on file and charge me if I try to keep both units or lied. Let's see what they say. Otherwise this puts me in a really tough situation considering DGFX starts in 2 weeks.

If the rift didn't have the best comfort on the market I would have consider another brand. But not much to choose from yet... Great product, awful company cant you use a separat pair of head phones?

I detached mine as soon as I unboxed my Rift and I can wear my Logitech headset just as comfortable as I was used to before.

I like the rift headphones because 1) they are attached to the headset so only 1 thing to manage 2) I like that they are on-ear vs my gaming headset which is over-ear (I have 2 young kids, so if I can't see them I can at least hear them a little better with those headphones). To be honest, while using my gaming headset these last few days I haven't felt like they sit comfortably on my head either.

But yes Mattias, I will have to use my headset and I guess I may have to take the chance of sending it out immediately after our Sebring race. Unless they approve sending a replacement while I hold my old unit (not likely). Otherwise I will only have 30 days to make this replacement happen since I'm out of warranty.

Oh so they mean that you have to send the whole HMD? Just to replace a headphone? Can you try putting the other on that side to see so it's only the headphone that's broken. Sound ridicules to send the whole HMD for that...
