Any thoughts/speculations on F1 next season? Im curious to how the Ice Man does next year with his new Ferrari. I'd really like to see McLaren do well again since they're such a storied team and they've sucked it up this year. Hopefully Lotus has another good season like this one, cuz that paint is dope.

Very curious about next season. Especially how the new preparation regulations will affect performance. What will lap times be like with the new changes? 1.6 liter forced induction power plants, massive amounts of ERS... I'm excited to see how well each team adapts to the new structure. With teams like Caterham that do not have KERS, how will they cope with the switch over to smaller engines that rely even more on energy regeneration? There's also a significant decrease in nose height for safety concerns and reduced wing widths. How will teams respond to it, and what will the new packages look like?

I'm very interested to see how the cars look/perform with the new nose height. I hope the huge overhaul of almost the entire car puts an end to Vettel's reign. I think Kimi in red once again will be a tough one to contend with. Especially after today's performance! Kimi from 13 to 3! Drive of the day right there, and really highlights his consistency considering his injured back.

Hahaha "My speed was ok" says Kimi after his fantastic drive. "We couldn't get any more." How much more do you expect when you start 13th and finish on the podium?!

Well quit being a lazy POS and wake your damn ass up next time! Actually, the Korean GP airs at a much more reasonable 1:30am in two weeks. But just so you know, I went to bed at like 3am after some intense Mario 64 action and still managed to see the lights go out at 8am. Jus' sayin

I'll probably be caught up to watch that one.
It's not surprising Kimi wanted to make the switch back to Ferrari, though. I've been looking at the vehicle development stuff on the F1 website, and they always have something going on at Ferrari. Meanwhile in the Lotus camp... shit breaks and he broke his points-finishing streak. He is the Iceman. All season long he hasn't really made any serious errors (That I've been able to watch so far anyway... still not caught up). It's either been A) He's given a great car, and puts it at the front, B) He's given a pretty lackluster car and manages to get up to the front, or C) He's given a non-competitive car and it either breaks or he still does reasonably well. I'd be looking for a new ride, too.

I completely agree. I don't blame him for jumping ship either. Lotus is a good tier two team, but they just don't have the bank account to consistently compete with the big three (RB, Ferrari and McLaren) yet he manages to outperform them rather regularly. I'm ready for him to put the smack down on Vettel next season. Notice how its always a German powerhouse (Schumacher and Vettel) and a Finnish spoiler (Hakkinen and Raikkonen)? Also interested to see how the Alonso/Kimi match up works out, since both are number 1 drivers. Needless to say 2014 is gonna be interesting for a myriad of reasons.

I think the Alonso/Raikkonen match up will be fantastic. I think both of them have the tenacity to consider each other as rivals when they get on track, no matter who they drive for. But they also have the professionalism to know when to help the teammate out in points situations towards the end of the season. I believe Kimi did that last time he was at Ferrari.
They are both extremely fast, and have slightly different approaches to a Grand Prix, but with how smart they are on track and how driven they are when they're out of the car, I think Ferrari might be a serious threat to Red Bull's throne. It really depends on how the teams cope with the new regulation.
What I wouldn't give to see what's going on at the R&D facilities.

I think Ferrari will definitely be a threat. If I was RBR I'd be shitting bricks cuz everyone and their brother will be gunning for them, and the new regs will have less emphasis on aero. Also, not to take away from Vettels skill, but he is used to being out front from lap one, where as Kimi/Alonso/Lewis have more experience scrappin it out with multiple fast drivers at once, so I think it might come down to the new cars more. And with the big boys in the right rides next year, itll probably be tough for Seb.

And I completely forgot how excited I am to see Honda and McLaren back together. I think Perez will be heavy hitter when he calms the fuck down and starts using his natural talent better. He's lucky to have a veteran like Button as a teammate, but not if he just pisses him off all the time.

Yeah. Perez has been pretty bold so far this season. Which is good, but at the same time. You're piloting multi-million dollar vehicles, and only 21 other people in the universe currently have the opportunity to race with you. If all of them hate you, you're gonna have a bad time... I learned that from South Park!

Kimi is one of my all time favorite drivers but i'm pretty worried about him and his back issues, he almost didnt race in malayasia and he said he's not sure if he'll make the next race......NOT COOL MAN...... But considering his back pain.....his last race was amazing

Good point mav. I feel, however, that if Ferrari is giving him a ride, they are certain he'll be healthy enough to race all season, but definitely something to keep our eyes on. As long as he doesn't fall off anymore boats lol

The call in Silverstone was awful. Not only had there been multiple left rear tire failures through the race, but with something like 11 or 12 laps to go, and most of the competition around him pitting before the safety car comes out, Lotus chose to keep him out on the old tires for the 9 or 10 lap shootout. If he'd have had fresh tires, he probably would have gotten back onto track in 4th or 5th and made it up to who know's where; it's Kimi, he probably would have taken second. But they left him out, and he was muscled out of the podium and back down into 5th.
Nuts. Every knuckledraggin' gear head watching had to have been like "WTF Y U NO PIT?" I'm sure Kimi wasn't too happy about it.

Haha Silverstone was a pretty entertaining race though. All the tire drama and shit, plus didn't Vettel have engine failure that race?

His gearbox went, which sent basically every car running in the top ten except Kimi and one of the Force India's down pit lane. And guess which way those two went. Lol.

But considering his back pain.....his last race was amazing I dont think you need to worry about his back pain being an issue. Hasnt he had that since 2001 or something? I think it was a crash when pretty early in the mclaren days that caused the issues. Also, is it just me or the ending of this season feels abit.. uhm.. un-exciting? I mean, I love seeing what RB does with Vettel. Being some 2 sec quicker than the rest is kinda impressive. Also, wtf is Hans Stucks problem? Apparently Seb lacks charisma? I know many fans dislike him, but he is a pretty funny, charismatic guy I reckon? Also, what about the rumours surfacing that Carlos Slim hasnt given mclaren any money yet? Will be dropped quicker than lighting if it they dont get their money? Can Hulk be in for a seat? Both Kevin Magnussen and Van Doorne are too young and not ready for a hot seat in mclaren just yet. And what about the second lotus seat? Massa? Valsecchi? Nasr (15 million is what he can bring to the table.. And no wins lolololol)? Or who? Hulk?

I dunno man, Kimi said himself he was unsure if he'd make the next race >.<
And yea the second half of this season has been VERY predictable. Vettel runs away.....alonso takes second.....and rotate in weber/hammy/kimi for 3rd based on who's car blows up.
Massa just needs to retire.....he thinks he's WAY better than he actually he is. He even said he's too good to go to a lower tier team....i've just lost all respect for him.
